Scholarly, Practical, Professional The Education Department, located in Atwood Hall on the St. Lawrence University campus, provides undergraduate and graduate programs in education to prepare teachers, counselors, and educational leaders for service in public and private schools and in the community. The department features linkages with the region's schools, neighboring colleges, and educational organizations to provide professional development opportunities for practicing educators. The programs offer a unique combination of scholarly and practical approaches to education in the liberal arts tradition. Department NewsMonday, March 3, 20082008 Summer Constructivist Design Conference to be Held at SLUThe 2008 Constructivist Design Conference, sponsored by the Learner Centered Resource Collaborative of which St. Lawrence University's Department of Education is a founding member, will be held at St. Lawrence University, July 21-25, 2008. Teams of participants from schools receive 40 hours of professional development in research-based best practices using constructivist strategies while also working to develop solutions to a project or task identified locally for implementation in the school district. The conference has been identified as one of the most beneficial professional development opportunities available.
