Arthur J. Clark

Arthur J. Clark is a Professor and Coordinator of the Counseling and Human Development Program at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. He received his doctorate in counseling from Oklahoma State University in 1974 and has held positions as a school counselor, director of guidance, and school psychologist. His professional experience also includes counseling in a substance abuse treatment center and maintaining a private practice as a licensed psychologist. Dr. Clark is an editorial board member of the Journal of Individual Psychology. His professional publications include Defense Mechanisms in the Counseling Process (1998), published by Sage Publications, Early Recollections: Theory and Practice in Counseling and Psychotherapy (2002), published by Brunner-Routledge and Empathy in Counseling and Psychotherapy: Perspectives and Practices (2007), published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates. He currently resides in Canton, New York with his wife, Marybeth, and their daughters, Heather, Tara and Kayla.
