Peter D. Ladd

Peter D. Ladd Ph.D., has been a tenured faculty member at St. Lawrence University in the Graduate School of Education for over twenty- two years. He coordinates the Certificate of Advanced Studies Program in Counseling, and has worked for twenty nine years in St. Lawrence University’s satellite graduate school program on the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation. Dr. Ladd has three published government documents in the area of social reform for Native people; Sharing Solutions: First Nations Social Reform, also, First Nations Child and Family Services Joint National Policy Review, and Comprehensive Research Findings in Education and Training: Aboriginal Strategic Initiatives.

He has three books published in the area of conflict resolution; Inclusion, Empowerment and Healing; Mediation, Conciliation and Emotions: A Practitioner’s Guide for Understanding Emotions in Dispute Resolution (click here for a review of this book); Relationships and Patterns of Conflict Resolution: A Reference Book for Couples Counseling and for 2007 will publish the book, Conflict Resolution for Law Enforcement Street Smart/Negotiating.

He has contributed to institutional reform, by founding; the Augsbury Institute for Youth and Families, the St. Lawrence Valley Teacher/ Learning Center, the St. Regis Mohawk Counseling Center and co-founder with Kyle Blanchfield J.D., of the Northern New York Centers for Conflict Resolution. Dr. Ladd lives in Clayton, New York with his wife Kyle and their son, Dorian.
